I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and board certified art therapist (ATR-BC) who works with teens and adults individually and in groups. I have over nine years of experience working in the helping professions; including work in early childhood education, community mental health, non-profits, and inpatient psychiatric services. I have led individual and group art therapy sesssions, as well as professional workshops. I have experience working with teens, adults with severe/persistent mental illness, the homeless population, and older adults with Alzheimers/Dementia.
After receiving my undergraduate degree in studio art, I gained experience working within a therapeutic environment with children, including those with developmental delays and those on the autism spectrum. Two years later, I began working towards my masters degree in Art Therapy Counseling at Marylhurst University in Oregon (now Lewis and Clark University). My graduate work experience included leading therapeutic art groups for homeless adults living with severe and persistent mental illness at a drop-in community mental health agency. During time, I gained experience providing reality-based therapeutic art groups to individuals living with mood disorders, substance abuse and homelessness.
I currently work with teens (ages 13+) and adults in my private practice in West Seattle. I also work at different non-profit organizations doing contracted work in the community.
I am currently working as a board certified art therapist (#17-165) and licensed mental health counselor (LH60732583) in the state of Washington. As a professional art therapist, I abide by the ATCB code of ethics. I currently serve on the board of the Evergreen Art Therapy Association as secretary and was the Communications Director from 2013-2017. I am also a professional member of the American Art Therapy Association and Washington Mental Health Counselors Association (WMHCA). I have completed the Level I and Level II First Aid Arts trainings for providing trauma-informed care.
